Google Merchant Center Availability Mismatch: Practical Guide

Diagnose in-stock/out-of-stock mismatches between a product feed, website and checkout.

How to investigate the issue

Availability is a shared truth between your product feed, your page, structured data and the customer-facing buying flow. If a feed says in_stock but checkout refuses a purchase, investigate inventory synchronization, variant-level stock and cache refresh intervals. If a page says out of stock but the feed says available, check the update path from your inventory system to product export. Google Merchant uses recognized values including in_stock, out_of_stock, preorder and backorder; each has different requirements. Do not assume a quantity of zero means out_of_stock when you deliberately accept backorders, and check variant availability individually. Audit a small sample with clear IDs and compare values collected at the same time to avoid false mismatches from normal updates. After fixing your authoritative inventory data, validate the next feed export and verify status inside your Merchant Center account. Our tools inspect manually provided snapshots and cannot promise real-time account resolution.
